High Potency Multi Vitamins

Many people think they should take high potency multi vitamins because they are operating on the philosophy that “more is better.”

But, like many things in life, more is not necessary better, and this is true of high potency vitamins as well.

The primary reason the vast majority of people should not take vitamins that are high potency (unless they have a specific health condition that creates a pronounced deficiency) is because there are health risks in doing so.

Many people don’t know this but, but as just one example, large doses of vitamin C can actually contribute to free radical production in the body.

High potency doses of other vitamins, such as Vitamin E, can lead to excessive thinning of the blood — or even increase your chance of dying!

None of this is said to scare you. Taking a broad spectrum of vitamins and minerals is indeed very good for your health assuming you are using a quality product.

But high potency multi vitamins may do more harm than good.

Besides, when it comes to vitamins they have generally weak antioxidant properties anyway.

There are other substances that have been studied for years that are much more powerful when it comes to their ability to scavenge free radicals and prevent cellular damage than vitamins.

And the good thing about these substances is that you don’t have to take them in high doses either.

A good example of a naturally powerful antioxidant is alpha lipoic acid, which is much stronger than taking high potency vitamins like C or E, without the same health risks, because you don’t have to take high doses of alpha lipoic acid.

Another important consideration is to select only a product that has been scientifically formulated. Many products on the market are conceived by marketers to quickly fill public demand, but the formulations can be poor.

And when it comes to such things as antioxidants and vitamins and minerals, ingredients can actually end up canceling each other out or creating more harm than good in the body.

Remember, vitamins, minerals, and other ingredients that comprise vitamin, antioxidant, and herbal forumlas have biochemical properties, and like all such substances, have the ability to react on each other and then on your body — for better or for worse.

One ingredient that would normally be beneficial for your body could become harmful to your body if combined with the wrong nutrient — or too much of it.

This is precisely why after extensively researching products on the market for many years we now take a product called Total Balance from Xtend-Life that was formulated by one of the most respected bioscientists in the world (who is also a Naturopathic Doctor).
