These are plant substances that have a chemical similarity to estrogen, the female hormone.
It is interesting to note that they are present in soy foods, and that in countries with a high intake of soy, the women seem to suffer less menopausal symptoms.

Calcium
It may be necessary for women to take more calcium during menopause, as the drop in estrogen may be linked to maintenance of bone strength.
Red Clover
Similar to soy, red clover has also been found to be successful at controlling symptoms of menopause.
